
Spring Schmidt is the Deputy Director for the St. Louis County Department of Public Health.
Schmidt has been responsible for large scale strategic planning, the Community Health Assessment and Community Health Improvement Plan, the department-wide Performance Management system, and community outreach and communication for several years.
She represents St. Louis County DPH as a member of the Regional Health Commission and several other boards and associations. Schmidt has been with Saint Louis County for 8 years, but has been working in the field of health education for the last 15 years. She is currently a doctoral candidate in the process of data collection for her PhD dissertation in Educational Psychology, Research and Evaluation Methods at University of Missouri-St. Louis. Her primary research interests are in community-based participatory research methods, health equity and the social determinants of health, and examining the school and community environments for factors that support and inhibit healthy decision making and positive youth development.
