Director of Health
Springfield-Greene County Health Department

 

 

Katie Towns is the Director of Health at the Springfield-Greene County Health Department, a role she has served in since July 2021 after filling it an interim capacity for five months. Katie has led the response to the COVID-19 pandemic locally, and provided support to the entire region through consultation and coordination. Previously she served as the assistant director, public information administrator, chronic disease administrator and a variety of other roles in the community promoting health and safety.

 

Her education includes a Master of Public Health degree and a Bachelors degree in Sports Medicine/Athletic Training from Missouri State University. She is a graduate of the Missouri Foundation for Health – Health Leadership Fellow program and Leadership Springfield.

 

Towns is currently a member of the Missouri Women's Health Council and has served on the Missouri State University Masters of Public Health Advisory Council and Masters of Public Health Accreditation Self Study Committee since 2009.
